Plastic Free July

Hey People! How's everyone progressing with Plastic Free July?

We are half way there, DANCE PARTY!

Raise your hand if you are doing this worthy event too!

Plastic Free July is a simple idea that developed in 2011 to raise awareness of the amount of plastic used. Plastic Free July encourages people to eliminate the use of single use plastic during July each year.

FACT: Single use plastic is plastic that cannot be used again and again.

This year the Seas of Change team, has decided to participate by avoiding Takeaway Items, especially the Top 4 (plastic bags, bottles, straws & coffee cups).

Why, you ask? Plastic is mostly downcycled or sent to landfill , however some people decide that plastic can make a home outside of the bin, where plastic rides the wind and ends up in waterways and the ocean!

Not only that! Plastic from the bin goes to landfills, where it takes up to 1000 years to decompose while leaking bad things like pollutants into the soil and water.

THIS IS HORRIBLE AND NEEDS TO STOP. Plastic can’t swim!

Part of Plastic Free July, besides from not using single use plastics, is to avoid products in plastic packaging, reduced where possible, refuse plastics that escape as litter and recycling what cannot be avoided.

Please remember that it is never too late to participate! Go register at http://www.plasticfreejuly.org/

Good Luck,

Steph <3
