Plastic Pollution

Hello! It’s Neev and I am back! So today’s topic is ‘Plastic Pollution.' Plastic is one of the most harmful items for the environment, yet people use it so often. People love to use it for the sake of convenience. They use plastic bags, plastic straws, plastic bottles, etc, however, nowadays people have started using alternatives, such as cotton or cloth bags, instead. But what about other plastic things?

Plastic pollution is now one of the most critical environmental issues, as the production of plastic is way more than we can deal with. Plastic pollution is most obvious in Asian and African countries as the garbage disposal plants are overwhelmed, ineffective or don’t exist.

Once in the ocean, various actions break down plastic into small particles. These are called microplastics and they are found in every part of the world - from the Mariana Trench to Mount Everest! Such microplastics are consumed by fish, causing them to die. Millions of animals, fish, turtles, dugongs, dolphins and many more die each year due to the consumption of plastic. In addition, almost 700 species are affected by plastics each year and nearly all species of seabirds eat plastic as they consider it as food

Plastic is very harmful. If we don’t do something about it, it is going to be the one to take over our planet. We have to be aware and make a change! This is Neev signing off! Be safe, and I will see you soon! Source: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/article/plastic-pollution,
